Artificial nails are used as an extension to the natural nails. The two types of artificial nails are ‘tips’ and ‘forms’. Some just use fake nails as the extension to their natural nails. They are glued on the end of the natural nails and acrylic is applied all over. Tips of the nails are available in different colors, designs and patterns. The other type that is named above is form that will be described here is the type in which whole nail will be covered with the artificial nail and then molded into the acrylic nail by shaping and buffering it.

Material used to harden the Acrylic Nails

Material used to hard acrylic nails

The material that is used to harden up the acrylic nails is ‘Polymethyl methacrylate acrylics”. It is a mixture of a liquid monomer and a polymer powder. This mixture will be applied on the nail and it takes 20-30 seconds after application and hardens the nail. This material can be easily removed by using variety of products and solvents. Usually acetone is used to remove that material from nails.
Another material that is used to harden the acrylic nails called “UV top coat”. In this process you have to put your nails under ultraviolet light. The brand and quality is much dependent in this process the better the quality the better you get the results. This is an expensive process.
